Recession or Depression? How did it happen?

Published by A.L.E.III at 10:25 am under Politics, now in America Edit This

Today we find ourselves in a similar position very few people in
America alive now remember. Back in the old days it was called the Great Depression now it is called by so many different names it is hard to keep track. I personally find it hard to call it “Great” in even the most cynical use of the word. They say we were in and may still be in Recession, but how do they know? Recession =’s a period shorter than a Depression, during which there is a decline in economic trade and prosperity. Shorter than a Depression, so how long is a Recession before it becomes a Depression? By its definition a Recession is “shorter” so one can only tell after the event if in fact there is a recession or a depression.

What this amounts to is real Depression for hard working Americans all across our country. Numbers show that jobs are disappearing faster than Big Business can ship products in from
China. This is one of the biggest problems and is this blog topic. (Side note)-> I am a Soldier and served in Iraq from the start and I was lucky enough to purchase some items provided by the Military’s version of Wally world that been set up in a partially destroyed palace; I bought two American flags and I flew them all over
Iraq. One day I was stowing them away and found a small sticker that said “made in china”! Talk about a pissed off American Soldier! <- That made me start paying more attention to the things I purchased and I am amazed how many items America uses everyday that are manufactured in
China.

Recession or Depression take your pick as to the title of our economic crisis it all rests on our shoulders. The trouble with the average American is our basic attitude “just give me what I want and damn who it affects as long as I am happy”. It has gotten so bad that the average American cannot afford to buy “AMERICAN made” products. When we allowed jobs to be shipped over seas, when we allowed trade agreements to be made that were and still are one sided (and not on our side) we gave up our right to complain. We sat by and let
Washington do things we would be imprisoned for. And not just the hated current administration, all of them as far back as anyone alive can remember. When you receive that phone call tonight asking you to change phone companies or when you attempt to receive help via phone with a product and you cannot understand the person on the other end it is because they are not in
America! Most people may know this, some may feel like this is an uncoordinated rant but look at my points and you will see the map to the Depression we are now in.

There is a way out, it is not on the recently elected Presidents shoulders; he has very limited power because he is outnumbered (a topic for later). No the way out is for US to stand up to the local, state, and federal ELECTED officials.  We elected them and until now we have allowed them to do as they wish and run this nation into the ground. It is time to make them accountable for their actions and for the actions of those they hold power over. Until we the people do this we can expect them to lie, rob, and starve
America. Before the recent election there was so much talk about change; change the administration, change the party, change the stance on war-change-change-change! Well, the election is over and the talking heads are quieter and there are no people in the streets calling out, there should be. There should be by the thousands demanding the elected do as they promised.

The biggest problems in
America began when being a politician became a career instead of an honor
